The Western Regional Youth Event is an amazing opportunity for youth entering grade 9 - graduating seniors to connect with UCC youth from all over the Western United States. In 2018, we will be gathering at the University of Hawaii in Honolulu, and the theme of the week will be "E Hele Mai I Ka Wai" which is Hawaiian for "Come to the Water."
When Is It? The dates for WRYE are June 25-29, but the Rocky Mountain Conference will be staying a few extra days until July 1 in order to experience more mission work around Oahu. How Much Is It? Registration for WRYE is $475, and airfare will be approximately $900. To cover extra costs, the Rocky Mountain Conference has set a total price of $1600. We are in the process of planning several fundraisers to help cover the cost. We will be traveling from Salt Lake City to Honolulu as a group, possibly meeting up with the rest of the youth from the Rocky Mountain Conference in Los Angeles or San Francisco (depending on which flights get booked). If you have any further questions or concerns, please contact Abby Brown.

Go to rmcucc.org/home/camps-events/fall-spirit-spark-retreat/ for more information and to register for the event. On Saturday, August 27, the HUCC youth group will be helping at the Walk to End Alzheimer's in Park City. We will be meeting at Holladay UCC at 7:00 am, and carpooling up to Park City. We will be providing snacks, but no meals, so make sure your youth has eaten something! A water bottle is also a good idea. For helping with this wonderful event, each volunteer will receive a T-shirt; please make sure Abby knows what size to request! This is also a perfect event if your child needs volunteer hours for school. The permission slip for this event is below; please make sure that we have this before we leave the church! If we don't have a permission slip, your child will not be able to go! The Festival of Colors is a wonderful celebration of the Hindu holiday Holi. Holi is primarily a celebration of the end of spring, and the victory of good over evil. You can read more about Holi here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Holi

Hello youths and parents!
This weekend (Feb 19-20), we are having a retreat with some other youth in the Intermountain Association of the Rocky Mountain Conference! There is no cost to attend, and it will be a wonderful opportunity to meet peers from other churches in the area. We will be going on a Costco run for youth group tonight (Feb 17), so make sure you have those permission slips in, otherwise you will be forced to play charades with me. And I can get annoyingly excited about charades. Be at Holladay UCC at 6:00 pm Friday, and we will be done by 3:00 pm Saturday. Senior High Youth begins regular programming on September 10th at
All incoming 9th graders, please be sure to join us on September 10th for our first day back from summer. We understand that schedules are hectic, so to help everyone out this year we will attempt to publish a monthly calendar with Wednesday activities listed in as much detail as possible. If you have any questions contact Megan Leonardi at [email protected]. Hello!
Yesterday we did some work for Family Promise, we discussed the international service trip, and we shared in great community with one another. Next week we will be doing dinner up Millcreek Canyon. Please sign up to bring one food item. -Megan Hello Everyone!
Originally the plan for tomorrow was to go up Millcreek and have a little picnic. However, due to the weather we will be meeting at the church. We will be doing a check in, playing games, and talking about helping out with Family Promise. We will also discuss both the upcoming and future service trips. Join us at 6 p.m. tomorrow night! Peace, Megan Hello Everyone!
Rather than receiving a weekly note with updates, you will be receiving the link to our new website! You can access blogs on our past week with the youth and on our future schedules. I am hoping this will be a fun and more effective way to communicate with all parents and youth. Let's give it a try! -Megan |
